I still can't believe it!

I wanted to tell EVERYONE and for some reason I really wanted to tell my grandmother-Mum's mum-but of course she's in Heaven and no-one has worked out how to ring her there. I don't even know why she was someone I felt I had to tell as I haven't thought about her in a long time.

Have a great weekend all!liz@the wendy househttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03248986279548132542noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7033576160179738050.post-88843993469992831692010-07-23T11:56:00.003+10:002010-07-23T12:00:43.906+10:00Two in A Week!Busy few days with the primary school running the school production of Little Red Riding Hood-The Melodrama! DS8 is convinced it will be the local paper 'cause it's news, Mum' but I think I will have to disappoint him.
It was a fantasitc show and both boys enjoyed themselves on and off stage. Can't wait for Showtime, to see how DS11 goes-my star!.

Have a great weekend-we have footy-all weekend.

Stay safeliz@the wendy househttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03248986279548132542noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7033576160179738050.post-60480361608662295572010-07-19T22:17:00.003+10:002010-07-19T22:28:02.484+10:00Woo hoo!Ok so I've been away for awhile-things happen but I'm back-can't say how long for this time but we'll see.

What's happened? Well for one thing-the Junior Footy Season has just finished and my DH decided to coach the U9's Mistake? Well in some cases Yep! but on the other hand-No. Thru the love of junior footy DH has made some great friends-both on and off the field. As well as supporting the players and urging them on, he has been able to put himself out there and make himself accountable to the parents, supporters and the club. DH is a shy petal and for him to get out there and work with these kids is a miracle in itself. Unfortunately he won't be able to coach the U10's next season due to work constraints but I know he'll be out there supporting his DS8 and his mates every Sunday morning!

Go Scoresby!

P.S. might also have something to do with the bucket of Gatorade deposited over him and the mud thrown at him at the last match-finely organised by the DS8!liz@the wendy househttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03248986279548132542noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7033576160179738050.post-55514035772216697962010-02-15T22:20:00.005+11:002010-02-15T22:35:37.479+11:00Where Have I Been?

the canoes at Chowder Bay Me and cousin Dave

Family

Scouts

The Opening Ceremony

Work
Birthdays

Christmas

JAMBOREE!

Family

Work

Holidays

School

Work

Scouts

Well that's about it!

Jamboree was out of this world. Sorry! But what have I been doing?

Well there's family, scouts, work, caft shows (have done 2 since we've caught up) and catch up with friends etc etc etc.

Family-boys are growing up and getting involved in everything-footy, scouts, school, swimming, drama. Stu was one of the coaches at Auzkick this year and looks like he'll be head coach for u9's next season.

Scouts-well it's getting closer to AJ2010 and there are heaps of activities to plan and organize. In fact last weekend, we did a top ropes course and I did the Leap of Faith-a jump off a 10m pole-totally unreal!

Work-both jobs are busy-completed stocktake at Bunnings last week and we are doing a project at Fonterra

Craft-not getting a lot done but am still participating in GNI's and going to SERS.

Housework-as someone said-clean houses are overrated! so I'm sticking to that one, but am working on it. It didn't get messy overnight so it's not going to be cleaned up in a day.

Tonight we are having a family outing and going to the Footy so that will be fun.

Hope all are well.

Talk soon!liz@the wendy househttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03248986279548132542noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7033576160179738050.post-77571204744974140772009-04-22T22:26:00.001+10:002009-04-22T22:40:37.232+10:00Where Have I Been?Well, it has been awhile really hasn't it? What can I tell you about the last two months?
With scouts, work (I now have 2 jobs), boys, school and trying to be a housewife, things have been busy.
Over the Labour Day weekend in March, I completed Basic Training for Scouts at Gilwell Park in Gembrook. The bonus of doing it this way is that instead of being away for two weekends, I completed the course in one. It was a great weekend and made some really great friends(Long Live the Koala Patrol and Campfire!)

The following weekend it rained and rained and rained and where was I? Camping at Clifford Park canoeing. Stu was at the Bushfire Benefit Concert and the boys had been billeted out to our lovely friends (thanks Mary and Carol). Thenon the Sunday, we had our annual albeit late Christmas Celebration at my Mum's family in Sunbury.

From then on, I've worked at both Bunnings and Fonterra (milk and yoghurt!!) over the last two months and tried to play Mum and Wife.

Better go. Getting late. Talk soon with the update.liz@the wendy househttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03248986279548132542noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7033576160179738050.post-73174777919170045482009-02-14T11:30:00.004+11:002009-02-14T11:47:47.231+11:00Christmas Traditions

I tried to show you early what we do at Christmas time but it didn't work, so I will try again.

At Christmas time we visit the cemetery at Arthur's Creek. Why? Well because most of my Mum's relatives are there and as most of them died in December, it seems to be the most appropriate time to visit. We usually make it a family trip and have been known to pull up on the side of the road and have a picnic. Last year, however, Mum and Dad went on their own and we didn't go. Doesn't matter, we don't have to go every year until DS7 Glen, asked when are we going to the graves with Grandma and Grandpa. I told him, we weren't going as GM and GP had already been. He was most disappointed and told me it was fun to visit the graves. I asked him was it fun because of the afternoon tea Grandma took. He said yes. So I said if i take the same afternoon tea, we should go. of course he said. So off we trotted.

There is more to this story now as Arthur's Creek is very close to Kinglake where the bush fires have been and still are. We will take the boys up to the cemetery at Easter time under the pretext of visiting the graves, but to show them the devastation of what the fires have done.

The cemetery sits on a hill and you can see all around. Mum and Dad have two plots up there and Dad reckons it's because of the view as to why he wants to go there.

liz@the wendy househttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03248986279548132542noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7033576160179738050.post-72613169591900997592009-02-14T11:20:00.005+11:002009-02-19T12:39:36.927+11:00I've Been Tagged

Thanks to Pauline, I've been tagged. What this means is I'm to look in my 6th picture file and find the 6th photo, well let's see what it is.

Ah, this is the name canvas I made for my sister-in-law for her birthday. Her name is Ionie and she can never find anything with her name on it spelt like this. One year, I gave her a brooch with her name on it. It was made of wire and her name was written in the wire. I purchased it at a market by a man who made name brooches.

So that's the 6th photo in the 6th file but it won't let me upload the photo so what I'll do is the next 6th folder and show you the 6th photo.

This folder is of the Commonwealth Games in 2006. I was a volunteer for the Games and worked with the out door events at the triathlon, marathon, road race and cross country BMX. It was a very long 10 days as we had to be up at 4-30am to be at events at around 6-30am. It was a great expo and I met lots of people. This is my spot in Port Melbourne at the marathon. It was near the beach and a pub so there was lots of people around. You never knew who was coming round the corner and you only saw them once.

liz@the wendy househttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03248986279548132542noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7033576160179738050.post-3624445992021014742009-02-11T11:12:00.003+11:002009-02-11T11:21:28.334+11:00Blood Giving? So how did I go? I didn't or more importantly, I couldn't. Sat for an hour waiting only to have the nurse tell me I have to wait another two months as it's too close since my surgery. Oh well, they will still need blood in 3 months time and Jac will personally book me in. She did really well, took 10 minutes to drain her pint. There was a board with the tally on it. They need 475 pints a week. When we walked in on Tuesday, they had 390 already. Think they will get enough for this week

We have made 16 boxes with toiletries in them and they will be labelled and delivered to the YMCA as they are collecting donations. We made them for families, teenagers and the oldies and they look great.

My GNI friends are getting together to make some cards and either sell them or donate to the Red Cross. Should be a fun night!liz@the wendy househttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03248986279548132542noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7033576160179738050.post-87479241779343480792009-02-09T16:36:00.003+11:002009-02-09T16:49:38.438+11:00Bush Fires-what can we do?Isn't awful the countryside burns, lives and homes are lost and what can we do?

Well me and Jac have rung the Red Cross and are going to donate blood tomorrow. Big deal I hear you say. Yes, it is a big deal for me as it's hard to get blood out of me even for a blood test I have trouble and I forgot to tell Jac this when we booked. So today, tonight and tomorrow I will sound like a washing machine as I gulp the water down. Wish us both luck! As I will probably collapse and Jac will have to pick me up!

We have also decided to make toiletry boxes with toothpaste, brushes, flannels etc for family groups and will leave them at the Red Cross.

I have also encouraged the boys to talk to their SRC Reps to have a Free Dress Day and donate a Gold Coin to the Bush Fire Appeal.

I think that's the only thing I can do to support these families.

What else can you think of?liz@the wendy househttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03248986279548132542noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7033576160179738050.post-2126160587805666582009-02-03T14:20:00.002+11:002009-02-03T14:31:51.636+11:00The SighDid you hear the collective sigh in Melbourne yesterday?
Not only was the weather cooler and we could sleep at night with a cover, but the kids went back to school. YAY!

Being a member of the parents'association, we were asked to assist with a morning tea for the new prep parents, giving them time to chat and relieve themselves of their anxieties without upsetting their children. It was great. I didn't know the story before we went and was a bit dubious about it, but I have to say, I did enjoy it.

It's being performed until 23rd January at RMIT in the Kaleide Theatre and entertains both young and old. There was plenty of modern references including Sarah Palin, Kate Moss and Amy Winehouse as well as a music score and sound effects on stage.
Lots of pantomine pranks, men dressed in women's clothing and water pistols galore, a good afternoon's entertainment for all.

Next weekend we will go to the city, armed with a camera, a list of ideas and we are going to make a Noakes Tour of Melbourne for the coffee table. Now to work on the list of ideas.

Talk soonliz@the wendy househttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03248986279548132542noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7033576160179738050.post-39274571940714744942009-01-02T10:10:00.003+11:002010-02-15T22:20:00.322+11:00How rude?

Well it has been awhile hasn't it? And I suppose you want to know what I've been doing. Well! Since my surgery, which did take the 6 weeks I was prescribed, I did also turn 40 and as I didn't have a 30th, I celebrated in style and had not just one party but 3!

As well as my birthday, the rest of the family have their birthdays too. DS6 turns 7 on 4th Dec, DH celebrates his birthday on the 10th and DS9 hit double figures on the 18th. Chuck in Christmas, the odd party or 3, present buying and my niece's birthday on the 27th, then you can see why I have neglected you.

The above shot was taken at the BIG party on the Saturday Night. It was a themed party-Royalty as you see it. I dressed as ELizabeth I ruffle and all, wig the works. You can't see it in the shot, but I was very pale in the face too. Thanks to Pauline for taking this shot.

Others came as King Gee dressed in his work clothes and helmet; princesses, vikings, Kings and Queens of Hearts, frog princes' and a couple of Chocolate Royals. It was a great night.

The boys are calling so I will fill you in on the other two parties later.

I can now sit at the computer for longer periods of time, I can walk around K Mart for an hour (shouldn't have done it but then I wouldn't have known that I couldn't) and am up to 10 houses and hope to be at my girl friend's for coffee today.

The down side, I am still having trouble dressing myself and I couldn't go to Paperific www.paperific.com.au this weekend or the sale at Wrapt Design and DH has decided I can cope and he's going back to work well for 4 hours a day for the first week and then we see how I go.

Tonight, I get to go to the scouts Trivia Night and I see some of my friends and have a laugh, though this may prove a problem as I stiil have to hold my stomach when I laugh, must remember to take the cushion.liz@the wendy househttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03248986279548132542noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7033576160179738050.post-3012316930789596332008-10-12T10:46:00.002+11:002008-10-12T10:55:47.593+11:00Argh!I am so frustrated! Yes, I know I've had major surgery but this no bending, dropping things on the floor and can't pick them, having someone help me get dressed and not being able to cuddle the boys is driving me nuts!
But I had a positive last night. I got to go visiting and yes, sit in someone else's four walls and look at their dust and cobwebs for about three hours and more importantly, the boys got to let off some steam with other kids and DH got some quality time with other men. So for that I'm thankfully.
I am walking up and down the street every day, increasing a house every day. I'm now up to 7 houses both ways. My aim to get to my friend's for coffee, walking there and back, but with a big break in between. I'll have to let her know cause she's not home everyday and even on her day off she could be gadding about.liz@the wendy househttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03248986279548132542noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7033576160179738050.post-24806556599015951712008-10-11T17:40:00.002+11:002008-10-11T17:50:50.544+11:00Sorry, I lost the plot earlier. Am still in some pain from my surgery and with children and husband home and me not being able to do anything, I get very frustrated.
Anyway, what I was going to tell you about was the article in the The Herald Sun this morning about the 1971 Sun Tour. Why it interests me is that my dad rode in a Sun Tour and followed others. My Dad was and still is a cyclist. I think he rode his first race at 11 and has riden for a very long time since. He had a bit of a blow out in 1977 when he fell off his bike on the track and then took up running, but before this, he rode and we followed, many a race, many a weekend when we were growing up.
While reading the article A Place In The Sun, DH asked would Dad know any of those riders. I replied he should, they were his fellow competitors and allies from his race days and they are all about his age. Some of those names I had heard him mention over time.
It's funny to see a photo from an era a life time ago and have it evovke so many memories.liz@the wendy househttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03248986279548132542noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7033576160179738050.post-29767829378276152492008-10-11T12:04:00.001+11:002008-10-11T12:04:24.651+11:00A Place In The Sunliz@the wendy househttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03248986279548132542noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7033576160179738050.post-39032630628508267962008-10-08T12:48:00.002+11:002008-10-08T12:58:45.563+11:00Home and TenderI arrived home on Monday and have done not much since. I am able to go on the computer but only in short bursts as the sitting nearly kills me. Otherwise, I'm ok.

Hospital was an interesting time as it always is. I was suppose to be in the Maternity ward but as I was coming out of recovery, I was informed (as one can be in a morphine induced state) that an emergency c-section had taken my bed and I was to go to Ambleside the orthopedic ward. All I could think of was all the old people go there and I was so right.

Fortunately, I had a single bed ward which means I didn't have to put up with anybody else and because I was such a novelty to have on the ward, the nursing staff would fight for me as each time there was change over, I would see a different face with lots of questions. I have to say here that each nurse I had was lovely and very caring which is all you can ask for.

Getting tired so will keep talking another timeliz@the wendy househttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03248986279548132542noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7033576160179738050.post-91920086821980297422008-09-30T13:20:00.002+10:002008-09-30T13:24:36.916+10:00HospitalI am going into hospital this afternoon for surgery and will be in for at least six days. I won't be able to post anything til I come home and even then, I will be tender.
I am hoping to get lots of cards and things made as I have a 6 week recovery time ahead of me and I reckon by that time I will be able to add my pictures to my blog.
Have a great week.
Liz@thewendyhouseliz@the wendy househttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03248986279548132542noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7033576160179738050.post-20678435471529114812008-09-30T13:13:00.003+10:002008-09-30T13:20:10.392+10:00We are a Happy Team at HawthornWe won, Hawthorn won the Grand Final. I still can't believe it!
The Hawks beat the Cats by 26 unbelieveable points. DH has watched the replay in some form or other every day since.
What a team!
DH and DS6 went to Glenferrie Oval on Sunday with 20,000 other people including my Dad (who they did loose, though not intentionally) and partied with them all.
DH wants a new shirt, hat and stubby holder
DS6 wants everything brown and gold.
Long live The Mighty Fightin' Hawksliz@the wendy househttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03248986279548132542noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7033576160179738050.post-27630006770764941552008-09-14T09:15:00.003+10:002008-09-14T09:23:41.384+10:00I Think I'm FamousI keep forgeting to tell you. The Wendy House has been published! I was asked if I would be prepared to have a story written about me and the Wendy House for the Spotlight publication get creative. They were doing an article about women and their sheds and they were looking for creative sheds. And I was asked if I would participate. How could I say no to a request like that. The editor came and met me and the Wendy House and was thrilled. The article had three other sheds in it including the famous Dale Rollerson from the Thread Studio. It was a big honour to be asked.
Anyway, its now out on the stands as it's in the September issue. Check it out. It's got some great other articles in it,but of course mine is the best.
See you round.liz@the wendy househttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03248986279548132542noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7033576160179738050.post-16390446848461394762008-09-07T10:21:00.003+10:002008-09-07T10:34:48.218+10:00Male Cards

I have fnally done it. Did you hear it? Were you there? My god, we saw it heard it and yes we were there. Where? The game last night between Hawthorn and Carlton at the Telstra Dome Melbourne. What a game! I now have to confess, I barrack for Hawthorn in the AFL and have done so for some time.
We were given tickets to the game from my Carlton friend as she was unable to attend and her seats are in the Carlton members. DH was a bit freaked by this as he remembers back to the days at Princess Park when the Carlton fans were quite vocal and was concerned this is what was going to happen here. I did try to reassure him that everybody is quite normal and pleasant as I'd sat with McMansion last year and wasn't insulted or abused. He backed down and said we'd go but if there was any trouble we'd be out of there. DS9 and DS6 were coming too and I think DH was more concerned for their safety than his own.We arrived around 6pm as the crowd was growing. Very impressed with the seats (thanks McMansion) and waited while the crowd began to swell.
Why was it such an exciting game? Buddy was to kick his 100th goal of the season and Fev was 8 from the tonne. The game started with Carlton flooding the forward line to stop Buddy from getting the ball, but at the 20min mark, Buddy marked and kicked his first goal. The crowd then merged into the aisles, waiting like a pack of wolves for Buddy to kick his next goal. They weren't disappointed. At the 26min mark, Buddy kicked it. The crowd went wild and ran onto the crowd. As well as congratulating Buddy, who was whisked off the ground by security, the crowd converged into the centre and huddled round the Carlton players, wishing that their star forward would kick the tonne too. It added 8 minutes onto the first quarter and many announcements to get the spectators off the ground. Unfortunatly, Fev was left stranded on 99 kicking 7 goals and 3 behinds in his last game of the season. The other bonus, yes Hawthorn did win.
Roll on September and the Finals.liz@the wendy househttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03248986279548132542noreply@blogger.com1
